When choosing an installer you should consider the following;

 

Do they employ their own installers?

At Elect Solar we directly employ our installers and we allow enough time to ensure the installation is carefully planned and executed. We pride ourselves on the finished product which ensures minimal exposed conduit and cabling.

 

What balance of system components are being used?

Whilst a great deal of focus is placed on the panels and inverter, often little or no consideration is given to the quality of the additional components used in a solar install. In the solar industry we call this the balance of install components and the quality of these components varies significantly. At Elect Solar we utilise high quality components that have been proven to last in the hot harsh conditions of the region. We use metal NHP isolators as opposed to plastic isolators that are subject to fatigue and degeneration, we use high quality Olex cabling and other components that ensure your installation will stand the test of time

 

Will the installer spend the extra time and care on the aesthetic look of the installation or will they simply install things the quickest and easiest way?

There are many ways to complete the same task when installing solar and often the easiest way is not the best looking. We aim to provide you with the neatest installation of your components and minimise any external conduit where possible.

 

Installing solar on your home

We will arrive at your home between 7.30am to 9.00am. You will be introduced to the team installing your solar and our head electrician will go through the installation with you and confirm that the system is to be installed as per the paperwork and/or work through any changes with you.

The work is separated into 2 components, Installing the inverter and cabling and installing the mounting system and panels.

Installing the inverter and cabling

The inverter will be mounted on a wall in a location that avoids any undue exposure to the elements and the cabling will typically be run through the roof, one set of cables connecting the solar panels to the inverter and one set of cables connecting the inverter to the switchboard in your home.

Installing the mounting system and panels

Our team will measure the roof and confirm the layout of the panels, any changes will be discussed with you.

First the team will lay down feet that mount to your roof type.

The mounting rail is then set in place and attached to the feet.

Each array is cabled and an isolator for each roof installed to connect to the inverter cabling.

Lastly the panels are installed and firmly attached to the mounting rail.

Testing and commissioning

Finally all of the connections are made and a full system test and commissioning procedure is undertaken.

 

Finalise paperwork and Tutorial

Once the system has been tested the head electrician will go through some final paperwork to be completed then demonstrate how the system works and what to watch for.

 

Electrical inspection and meter upgrade

The system requires an electrical inspection which occurs in the week after the installation of the system and finally your Electricity Network distributor will need to come and either replace or reprogram your meter so that it can read the flow of solar electricity. This can take up to 20 days and your new solar system needs to remain off until this has been completed
